Sorabora Reservoir, also known as Sorabora Wewa, is a large ancient irrigation tank located near Mahiyangana in the Badulla District. Surrounded by scenic hills and forests, it offers a peaceful setting for fishing, boating, and relaxing by the water.
The reservoir is about 3km from Mahiyangana town and can be easily reached by tuk-tuk, car, or bicycle along the Sorabora Wewa Road.
Believed to have been built during King Dutugemunu�s reign by a giant named Bulatha, Sorabora Wewa is notable for its unique stone sluice gate system. It�s both an engineering marvel and a scenic spot for visitors and locals alike.
